Frederick Claude Vivian Lane

(2 February 1880, Millers Point, New South Wales – 14 May 1969, Avalon, New South Wales) was an Australian competitive swimmer.

Frederick nickname was Fred or Freddie was the first Australian to represent his country in swimming at the Olympic Games, although he was actually a part of the British team.

Freddie competed at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris were Freddie won two gold medals, the 200-metre freestyle and the discontinued 200-metre obstacle race.

200-metre obstacle race consisted of three obstacles throughout the 200 metre course.

Swimmers had to climb over the first two (a pole and a row of boats), and swim under the third (another row of boats).

(born 2 February 1958, Yorkshire, England) is a British-born plastic surgeon working in Perth, Western Australia.

Fiona is the director of the Royal Perth Hospital burns unit and the Western Australia Burns Service.

Fiona became well known for her patented invention of spray-on skin for burn victims

Fiona spray-on skin repair technique involved taking a small patch of healthy skin from a burn victim and using it to grow new skin cells in a laboratory. The new cells were then sprayed onto the patient’s damaged skin.

In October 2002, a largest proportion of survivors from the 2002 Bali bombings arrived at Royal Perth Hospital. Fiona led a team working to save 28 patients suffering from between 2 and 92 per cent body burns, deadly infections and delayed shock.

She was named a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2003.[2] She was named Australian of the Year[3] for 2005

She is an Australian Living Treasure. In 2005, Wood won the Western Australia Citizen of the Year award for her contribution to Medicine in the field of burns research.
